Identification and Examination of Key European Biological Resources for Grapevine and Fruit-Bearing Plants Pilot Program

The biological resources of grapevine and fruit cultivation registered in the national gene bank database exhibit outstanding diversity on a European scale. These biological resources, which form the basis of domestic grape and fruit production, require special attention.

The objective of this pilot program is to:

  • Identify high-priority items within existing collections.
  • Record and document them in an appropriate database.
  • Conduct thorough examinations.

Perform virus and pathogen elimination where necessary.

The program is implemented with a total funding of 58 million HUF, in collaboration with the following institutions:

  • The former National Agricultural Research and Innovation Center (NAIK)
    • Fruit and Ornamental Plant Research Institute
    • Viticulture and Oenology Research Institute (Kecskemét)
  • University of Pécs, Viticulture and Oenology Research Institute
  • Food Chain Safety Center Nonprofit Ltd.
