In April 2013, the strategy for the conservation of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture was approved.
In order to comply with international obligations and address issues raised in national consultations, it became necessary to develop a strategy for the conservation of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture. The strategy focuses on the conservation of genetic materials of species and varieties considered as food sources, excluding ornamental plants and forestry species. Its objective is to define the key goals for the conservation and sustainable use of food-related genetic resources and the measures to achieve these goals for the period leading up to 2020. This document provides the framework for fulfilling gene conservation tasks, particularly regarding the annual "State Gene Conservation Task " call for proposals.
