Plant Gene Bank Council

The Plant Gene Bank Council functions as an independent professional advisory body to the Minister of Agriculture. Its responsibilities include representing domestic plant genetic conservation and related research and development, as well as reviewing legislation, grant programs, and national programs related to plant genetic conservation. Where necessary, it submits professional proposals or opinions to the Minister of Agriculture.

The Plant Gene Bank Council was established in June 2011, with its first meeting held on June 17, 2011. The secretariat duties of the council are carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture's Department of Biodiversity and Genetic Conservation.

The legal foundation for the council is provided by Government Decree 1376/2013 (VI. 27.).
