Dr Jacques Trouvilliez Appointed New Executive Secretary of the UNEP/AEWA Secretariat

The UNEP/AEWA Secretariat is pleased to announce that the UNEP Executive Director has appointed Dr Jacques Trouvilliez as the new Executive Secretary of the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA). Bonn, 28 May 2014 - Elizabeth Maruma Mrema, who led the UNEP/CMS Secretariat first as officer-in-charge and then as Executive Secretary from July 2009 until the appointment of the current incumbent, Bradnee Chambers, has been named as the Director of DELC, the Division of Environmental Law and Conventions located at UNEP HQ in Nairobi. She will take up her new responsibilities at the beginning of June.

This year’s concert aimed to raise funds for the White-winged Flufftail, a Critically Endangered bird species, which is thought to have a population of less than 250 individuals remaining in the wild.
