ACCOBAMS Survey Initiative Contributes to Sharks MOS3
The Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans of the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea and Contiguous Atlantic area (ACCOBAMS), member of the CMS family, developed the “ACCOBAMS Survey Initiative” (ASI) aimed at establishing an integrated and coordinated monitoring system for cetaceans throughout the ACCOBAMS area.
European Commission and Norway : Champions of Waterbird Conservation
Today Norway and the European Commission will be declared ‘Champions’ of waterbird conservation. The ceremony will take place during the Gala Dinner kindly offered by the Government of South Africa in the margins of the Seventh Meeting of the Parties to the African-Eurasian Waterbird Agreement (AEWA) currently underway in Durban.

New Executive Secretary for ACAP
Christine Bogle has just taken over the reins at the Secretariat of the Agreement on the Conservation of Albatrosses and Petrels, replacing Marco Favero. Christine, who is from New Zealand, used to be a diplomat, serving in Peru, Italy, Spain, Tonga and Mexico - the last three as Head of Mission. During her time with the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, she became interested in multilateral diplomacy, especially in the environmental field, which stands her in good stead for her new post.
Trinidad and Tobago - CMS Party No. 127
CMS is pleased to welcome Trinidad and Tobago as the 127th Party to the Convention with effect from 1st December. Trinidad and Tobago is situated in the Caribbean and this island republic shares maritime borders with Barbados, Grenada, Guyana and Venezuela. The country has an area of just over 5,000 km2 with the two main islands giving the country its name accounting for 98 per cent.
