The third Regional Workshop to develop a Multi-species Action Plan to Conserve African-Eurasian Vultures (Vulture MsAP) took place from 29 to 30 November in Mumbai, India. This Workshop covered nine of the fifteen species of Old World vultures, a term used for vultures that occur in the continents of Africa, Asia and Europe; a region collectively referred to as the Old World.

From 24 to 26 November 2016 a workshop on “Sustainable Land Use in West Africa: National and International Policy Responses that Deliver for Migratory Birds and People” took place in Abuja, generously hosted by the Federal Ministry of Environment of Nigeria. The workshop brought together government representatives of Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal; UN organizations such as FAO, UNCCD and UNEP/CMS; the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF); universities, research organizations and civil society (BirdLife International).

The first meeting of the Multi-Stakeholder Energy Task Force is taking place in Cape Town from 1 to 2 December.

Parties are informed of deadlines for the submission of documents to the 12th Session of the CMS Conference of the Parties (COP12).

The sixth session of the Meeting of the Parties to ACCOBAMS – the Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans of the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Contiguous Atlantic Area – is being held in Monaco from 22 to 25 November. This is the third time that the MOP will have been hosted by the Principality of Monaco, which also serves as the Agreement’s depositary and provides the offices of the Secretariat.

The last full meeting of the CMS Standing Committee for the triennium 2015-2017 took place in Bonn from 9 to 10 November, setting the scene for next year’s CMS Conference of the Parties (COP12) which will be held in Manila from 22 to 28 October at the kind invitation of the Government of the Philippines.

Following the consultations that took place between April and July 2016 on the first draft of the CMS Family Guidelines on Environmental Impact Assessments for Marine Noise-generating Activities (s
